Grendel
Beowulf went though great battles with many monsters including the one above, Grendel. Grendel was a man eating monster who went around terrorizing people and eating them. Grendel was just a child living with his mother at the bottom of a lake. He is decended from Cain which is the progenitor of all evil sprits. Beowulf killed him by cutting off his arm.

Grendel's Mother
Grendel's mother was enraged when she found out her son was dead, and wanted to seek revenge. She took on a battle with Beowulf, but lost. She was beheaded.

And desperate, lifted it high over his head
And struck with all the stregth he had left,
Caught her in the neck and cut it through,
Broke bones and all.
Her body fell
To the floor, lifeless, the sword was wet,"
